Presidents Message

It is a great honour for me to take up the role as President of Naas RFC, for the upcoming 2022/23 rugby season. I consider myself very privileged to represent all of you, the members of Naas RFC at home in Forenaughts and through the country.

This coming season we can continue to build on the great work and achievements of last season both on and off the pitch. For the sixth consecutive season our 1st XV is playing in Division 1B of the All- Ireland League and following reaching the league final last season we are looking forward to the coming season with pride, ambition and confidence.

Our Senior Ladies XV are moving up to Division 2 of the Leinster League following their league win last season in addition to winning the Paul Cusack Cup. To our J1’s who achieved the double also last season, our J2’s who won the 2nd Towns Cup, the J3’s, Under-20, our 18.5’s who won their league and all our successful youths, minis, Rattlers and of course our Vipers, you are all vital to the continued success of our club by playing at the highest standards.

Our playing membership continues to grow year on year and is the envy of most Clubs. We in Naas RFC can all be proud that our efforts to instil the Rugby ethos of respect while learning not only to win, but to be gracious in loss. These values are promoted at every stage of the rugby career pathway within the Club here in Naas.

To all our players who achieved representative honours last season with Leinster and Ireland my congratulations and best wishes for the season ahead. May I take this opportunity to wish all our coaching team’s all the best for the coming season, and I hope that all our players enjoy the season and remain injury free. I want to assure you all of the clubs full support during the coming season both home and away.

To our fifteen fully accredited Leinster Branch referees and those in training I want to thank you all for volunteering your time week in and week out each season.

I want to take this opportunity to express all our thanks to The Smurfit Family, as without their continued support we would not be able to accommodate all the players who train and play each season in NRFC.

I want to thank all our Club sponsors who have been exceptional over the years with their continued support. Should anyone wish to become a sponsor, please contact any of the Executive Members, as additional support is always very welcome.

I want to thank all our volunteers who give up so much of their valuable time, we are always looking for additional volunteers, so if you are interested please let us know.

If you have any suggestions to help improve the rugby experience for members and visitors to Naas RFC or if you would like to volunteer please do not hesitate to contact any Member of our Executive Committee.

Finally, if you read this and have not been to Forenaughts previously, come on out and meet us in our Community Club where you will see the highest standard of rugby played in this country right on your doorstep. I can assure you of warm welcome.
