It is a great honour for me to take up the role as President of Naas RFC, for the upcoming season. I feel very privileged to represent you all, our members.
This could be a season like no other, and I am sure we can expect many challenges as we strive to get back to the game we all enjoy so much. We are currently implementing many procedures throughout the Club, to ensure that all players, coaches, referees and spectators can enjoy our great game in a safe and secure environment. These procedures are intended to make Naas RFC as safe a place as possible. We will only be able to continue our season if all of us follow these guidelines, however I have no doubt that they will be followed. If there is anything else you would like us to do in this regard, please do not hesitate to contact any Member of our Executive Committee and they will be very happy to help.
For the fifth consecutive season our 1st XV is playing in Division 1B of The All- Ireland League. Due to The Covid-19 pandemic, the AIL as we know it will not start until next January, although there will be a full fixture list up to the end of 2020. May I take this opportunity to wish our new coaching team all the best, and hope that all players stay injury free, while assuring them of our full support both home and away. I would like to echo these sentiments to our J1, J2, J3 and Under-20 sides. All these teams continue to play at the highest standard and are vital to the continued success of Naas RFC creating a tremendous battle for places. Our Ladies, Youths and Minis continue to grow apace and are the envy of most Clubs, producing huge numbers, as we instill the Rugby ethos of respect while learning not only to win, but to lose at this early outset of their rugby careers. I would also like to make a special mention of welcome to all our players with additional needs, I have to say it is with great pride we welcome all these great players to our club, and trust you all enjoy playing with Naas.
May I take this opportunity to express our thanks to The Smurfit Family, as without their support we would not be able to accommodate all the players who train and play in Naas.
Our Club sponsors have been exceptional over the years with their support, your continued support is critical us. Should anyone wish to become a sponsor, please contact any of the Executive Members, as additional support in these difficult times would be very welcome. We also thank all our volunteers who give up so much of their valuable time, we are always looking for additional volunteers, so if you are interested please let us know.
On behalf of The Club, we wish John Walsh well in his new role as Incoming President of The Leinster Branch for the 2020-2021 season. This is a very well-deserved appointment, and we are sure John will do an excellent job.
Finally, if you read this and have not been to Forenaughts previously, why not venture out and meet us in our Community Club and see the highest standard of rugby that is played in this country on your doorstep. We will assure you of warm welcome.
President, Naas Rugby Club.
